Charlie Dore with Julian Littman and special guests Paul Walker and Karen Pfeiffer

Old Courts Wigan September 14, 2018 7:00 pm - September 15, 2018 12:01 am

We are delighted to welcome back Charlie Dore and Julian Littman. Charlie, whilst best known for her worldwide smash hit Pilot Of The Airwaves is about much more than that. She has several critically acclaimed albums to her name, most recently the poignant, moving yet humourous Dark Matter. She has also written hits for many other artists, including Celine Dion, Sheena Easton, and co-wrote the No.1 hit for Jimmy Nail, Ain’t No Doubt.

She will be accompanied on the night by her long-standing musical partner and multi-instrumentalist, Julian Littman. Julian appeared at Acoustic Roots earlier this year as part of his first ever solo tour and will be heading off on a UK tour soon after this concert with his other regular band, Steeleye Span. Between them, they will juggle three guitars, ukulele, mandolin, harmonium, piano and loop station! Oh, and not forgetting some amazing harmony vocals too.

“Dark Matter…an amazingly astute, moving and intelligent songwriter. A voice like Kate McGarrigle meets Dory Previn. Wonderful” (Mike Harding)

“Beautiful, existential, metaphysical and intriguingly other. Zen folk I want to call it. Charlie Dore’s ‘Time Out Of Mind’” (Ricky Ross, BBC Scotland)

We are also delighted to welcome rising stars Paul Walker and Karen Pfeiffer to open the evening for us. With their unique onstage-chemistry and their widely praised harmonies, the Anglo-German duo entertain and engage their audiences wherever they perform. Combining their original material with a fine choice of folk favourites Paul and Karen craft a show of “songs with groove and goose-bumps guaranteed”, as the Stuttgart press put it recently.
